Change of Artist

I had trouble finding actors to participate in my music video, therefore I have had to take the decision to find a new artist. Instead of using unsigned.com, as I did experience some difficulty with finding music that I felt was an appropriate genre, I used soundcloud. Soundcloud allowed my search to be much more refined than it previously was due to the fact that I could search for specific genres or styles of music. After much deliberation and research I came across the following songs which I thought would give me a wide range of narratives to base the video upon. What's more, the artist Emily Denton is a young female artist and there are many actresses who have said they are willing to be a part of my music video - therefore I will have no difficulty in finding someone suitable. Under each song I have included a brief description of my initial ideas to reflect the lyrics/tone of the song. I like Emily's music as the acoustic style is similar to some of the music I listen to. It reminds me of a slow acoustic version of Amy MacDonald due to the variety in topics.

The lyrics to this song made me think of someone who was put into care at a young age ("he/she left me") and their anger towards this.

The lyrics to this song provoked images of someone who struggled with something in their life
       - perhaps they have cancer or an alternative condition which makes them "still broken".

I had images of a drug addict during this song despite the song clearly being about love. The lyric:        "destructive, you're conductive / I'm attracted and I want it" is what lead me to think of this as it
reminded me of what a stereotypical drug addict's thoughts would be

This was the only song not by Emily Denton and coincidentally the only song without lyrics. I picked this one to also think about producing a music video for as the omission of lyrics would allow for any narrative that reflected the tone and genre of the song.

Plan Of Action:
I have decided to use one of Emily Denton's songs as I feel that they have the strongest lyrics for me to interpret and make into a music video. I have messaged her on Twitter as this was one of the forms of communication on soundcloud that she had. Moreover, Twitter is more of an instant communication website so I can get a response from her quite quickly and move on to planning my music video.

  1. I like that you've considered brief ideas for each song. Does any of the music remind you of any other artists/groups?
