Aesthetics of the video

After I have filmed and edited the video I have decided to experiment with the hue/filter of the video to give it an added effect. It will depend on how I have shot it, but I think I will use a blue-ish filter over my video to make it seem more sad. Oppositely, I could experiment with grayscale if this suits better. Below I have used a photo of an eye to experiment with different hues, although the eye will be different to filming mid shots and long shots, it will still be effective in showing the hue.

No Effect:
This is the photo of the eye with no effect.
Blue/Yellow Hue:
This is the photo of the eye with a blue/yellow hue over the top. I think it makes the skin look slightly washed out which would work well as Heather is supposed to be ill and therefore pale.
 Yellow Hue:
I added a yellow hue over this photo. I feel that it makes it look too fake and processed so perhaps if I was to do this I might fade the hue slightly so it's not as bright.
 Grayscale:
I like the aged effect that the grayscale has on the eye. The scenes of the past in my music video could be done in grayscale to indicate that it's already happened.
 Sepia:
I don't like the sepia effect on the photo as it makes it look completely processed. I won't be using this in my music video.
 Blue Hue:
I think the blue hue makes the eye look really tired which, again, would work well in my music video. This can definitely be an option for my music video.

  1. Excellent experimentation with colour effect. See if you can look at small sections of videos which employ a similar colour/tone to the 2 you are considering. Alternatively you could practise with a small section of your footage, post it to your blog and get some feedback via a poll or survey!
